About the 55th Kansas City Symphony Designers’ Showhouse
3621 Belleview, Kansas City, Missouri

Designed by prominent architect George Matthews and built circa 1903, the house was originally the site of the Kansas City Inter-State Fair. The property was then sold to the Roanoke Investment Company. The architect is credited with designing the Thomas Hart Benton home across the street from this house, and also last year’s Showhouse at 1100 Valentine, Kansas City, Missouri.

The owners are Tim and Julie Steele, who purchased the house in May 2024. They have added central air conditioning by using existing structures in the house to camouflage the ductwork. The Steeles purchased the house from Cindy Pratt Stokes, who owned the house with her late husband Dr. Robert Stokes since 1994. The Stokes’ did an admirable job preserving and respecting the integrity of this historic house.
