The Kansas City Symphony Alliance (KCSA) Board of Directors has reluctantly decided not to host a Symphony Designers’ Showhouse in the spring of 2021. This difficult decision has been made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our members, volunteers, designers, and the general public. Our decision was made in consultation with the Kansas City Symphony, which is supportive. The decision also followed a survey of our members, volunteers and designers about their comfort level participating in the event in 2021. We want to thank everyone who completed the survey sent out because it helped us in knowing how you were feeling and your answers guided this decision significantly.
We believe that postponing our next Showhouse until spring of 2022 is the best option. We have many reasons to trust that that the pandemic will be under control or resolved in the next year. By then we are confident we’ll be in a position to produce a Showhouse that meets the high standards the community has come to expect from this beloved tradition.
KCSA membership is still valued and more important than ever! Our board is busy working on ideas for smaller scale, socially safe event designed to offer interesting volunteer opportunities as well as support our Kansas City Symphony. Stay tuned for updates.
